Partagás Línea Maestra Rito – Cigar Review

The Partagás Línea Maestra Rito offers a complex and evolving smoking experience that rewards patience and attention. After spending a good amount of time resting in the humidor, this cigar was finally enjoyed as the weather began to turn — an ideal setting for a cigar of this calibre.

On first light, the immediate impression is one of pronounced minerality, with notes reminiscent of sea salt, quickly followed by classic cedar and leather. The draw starts slightly tight but improves as the cigar settles, opening up to a light-to-medium body in the early stages. Even at this point, the cigar shows refinement rather than aggression, with flavours that feel deliberate and well-structured.

As the cigar progresses, the profile becomes noticeably richer and more rounded. Nutty flavours begin to dominate — particularly roasted hazelnut — alongside a growing creaminess that softens the initial salty edge. The smoke production increases, and the cigar becomes increasingly moreish, encouraging you to return to it rather than set it down.

Moving into the latter stages, the flavour profile shifts again, revealing darker notes of chocolate with a gentle bitterness that adds depth rather than sharpness. This bitterness gradually fades, giving way to a sweeter, milk-chocolate character that feels indulgent and smooth. Toward the final third, the cigar fully opens up, delivering creamy, smoky flavours with hints of sweet almond and a lingering, satisfying finish.

The Partagás Línea Maestra Rito is a long, rewarding smoke — taking around an hour and a half — and remains engaging right through to the end. It is both savoury and sweet in balance, with a clear sense of progression throughout. One of those cigars that leaves you genuinely disappointed when it’s finished, which is perhaps the highest compliment of all.

    Pairing suggestions

This cigar pairs exceptionally well with drinks that complement its creamy, nutty, and chocolate-driven profile. A lightly sweetened espresso or a creamy cappuccino works beautifully, enhancing the roasted nut and cocoa notes. For an evening pairing, consider an aged rum or a rounded bourbon, which will mirror the cigar’s sweetness without overwhelming its complexity. A softer, sherried Speyside whisky would also be an excellent match, echoing the almond and milk chocolate flavours in the final third.

Overall, the Partagás Línea Maestra Rito comes highly recommended — a refined, flavour-driven cigar with excellent progression, ideal for when you have the time to truly sit back and enjoy the journey.
