The Smoking Jacket began in 2011, when father-daughter duo Raj and Sonal opened the doors to their first shop in Earl’s Court. Back then, the focus was on boutique wines and fine spirits—but as their shared curiosity for cigars deepened, so did the humidor. What started as a few hand-picked sticks quickly grew into one of London’s most thoughtfully curated cigar collections.
Today, we have three locations—Earl’s Court, Gloucester Road, and Old Brompton Road—but our Earl’s Court shop remains the beating heart of the cigar business, home to our largest range of cigars, along with elegant accessories and a hand-selected range of wines and spirits.
Crafted by Curiosity, Fueled by Passion
Our cigar journey isn’t just shop-bound. Sonal has personally travelled to some of the world’s most storied cigar regions—Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico—visiting iconic factories like Joya de Nicaragua, Padrón, Drew Estate, La Aurora, La Flor Dominicana, and Casa Turrent. These experiences deepen our understanding of the leaf, and we bring that insight into everything we offer—especially our curated Box of the Month, which showcases a rotating selection of cigars to discover and enjoy.
The Name Behind the Flame
The name The Smoking Jacket reflects what we believe cigars represent: comfort, ritual, and a moment set aside for yourself. Like the elegant garment that inspired it, we see smoking a cigar as something to savour—slowly, stylishly, and with soul.

Whether you’re a long-time aficionado or lighting your first cigar, you’re warmly welcome here. We’ve designed our shops to feel like a space where you can ask questions, explore at your own pace, and feel completely at ease—no pretence, no pressure.
