Why this cigar
A classic long Churchill with Por Larrañaga’s refined, honeyed profile. Whether you’re reading a Por Larrañaga 47 review or looking to buy Por Larrañaga cigars UK for special occasions, this UK Regional Edition is an elegant, collectible choice.
The Por Larrañaga Larrañaga 47 or PL47for short is a classic “Churchill” vitola and ispresented in an impressive unvarnishedSemi Boîte Nature box of 50 cigars. This isthe first time a UK Habanos RegionalEdition has been offered to the market inthis format. As with some previous UKRegional Editions, an old papeleta from thebrand has been recreated to dress theoutside of the box.Unlike most cabinets/boxes housing fifty Habanos, the cigars are layered in three rows of thirteen and one row of eleven rather than tied into a bundle with ribbon. This style of box is considered an outstanding way of ageing cigars in the medium and long term. Only 1,500 numbered boxes have been produced which will be made available exclusively to the UK market. The name Por Larrañaga, which means “By Larrañaga”, was first registered in Havana by Ignacio Larrañaga in 1834. This was just 24 years after the very first cigar brands were registered, and makes Por Larrañaga the oldest brand of handmade Habanos still in production. Although Por Larrañaga is classified light to medium bodied, and is relatively subtle and easy going, it has a reputation for outstanding ageing potential. Previous UK Regional Editions from the brand, most notably the 2007 Magnifico, have born this out and have become extremely collectable.
Flavour & draw
Light-to-medium body: floral and honey tones complement creamy vanilla biscuit and orange zest over sweet cedar and toasted almond flavours. As the cigar goes on, the ones become richer and nuttier with notes of cocoa and espresso whilst still remaining smooth and creamy. Long, cool smoke; even burn and an easy, composed draw throughout.
Pairing & when to smoke
Lovely with Champagne, a fine Cognac or espresso; ideal for unhurried weekend afternoons or celebratory dinners.
Genuine & stored right
EMS-stamped and sourced via official UK channels. All cigars are stored in our London humidors under stable conditions (~65–70% RH).
