It is just the second cigar to be officially released by Habanos S.A in celebration of the Chinese New Year, following last year’s Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 (Year of the Rat).
The cigar measures 6 5/8” (167mm) x 48 ring gauge and is known as a Hermosos No.1 in the factories of Cuba. This size was most recently seen as an Edicion Limitada in 2016 when Montecristo introduced the Dantes.
The Hoyo de Monterrey brand is classified as light flavoured and, when launched in 1865, it took its name from a plantation in San Juan y Martínez, in the heart of Vuelta Abajo.
Today the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation is one of the most famous Vegas de Primera (first class fields) in Cuba and, just as with all other Vegas de Primera on the island, it is still ploughed by ox….
